Operant Conditioning Experiment
I recently noticed that my ten-year-old daughter has become reluctant to do her personal studies and homework once she got home from school so I thought it would be a good opportunity to conduct this experiment with her. I decided to try and use positive reinforcement and check if it will be able to encourage her to do her homework more often.
I decided that I would be buying her favorite candy bars in the evening as I went home and if she were studying, I would walk in, help her do a few of the questions in her homework, and then leave her with a candy bar. I chose the candy bar considering her age and her love for candy that it would be the best option to get the best results out of the experiment.
During the first day, she took the candy bar and said thanks and retired to bed. The second day, she was not doing her assignment and therefore I did not leave the candy bar with her. During the third day, she was busy doing her homework, and I checked on her leaving her a candy bar in the process. The fourth and fifth days were the same as she took the time to study and I did my part of leaving her with the candy bars.
In my opinion, the results of the experiment pointed out at a successful experiment since by the fourth and the fifth day, the subject of the experiment was responding in a positive manner in relation to the intention of the experiment.
