Abstract
Brooks’ article addresses the self-centered attitude towards personal physical attributes especially that linked to the social media. Narcissism is defined as the boundless love for personal physical features in ways that it becomes a personality disorder. What the author shows about narcissism is that it has social, economic and political implications if it is not resolved by eliminating any emotional junk food attributed to this disorder. Further, Brooks indicates that over three decades ago, psychologists did not care about ego and self-adoration but as time elapses it has become a challenge in most societies. Additionally, the author shows that narcissism has social, economic and political impacts but fails to show how it affects individuals depending on age and gender. The article encourages people to carry out the narcissist test so as to make valid conclusions on the disorder. However, Brooks’ article should have aimed at establishing the impacts of narcissism depending on age and gender rather than having generalized information.
The paper addresses the self-centered attitude towards personal physical attributes especially that linked to the social media. The theme addressed in the paper is the impacts of narcissism.
Narcissism is the boundless love for personal physical features in ways that it becomes a personality disorder. The article indicates that over three decades ago, psychologists did not care about ego and self-adoration but as time elapses it has become a challenge in most societies.
Wait! main paper is just an example!
Tests were not readily available to ascertain whether a person suffers from the disorder but currently online tests are available making it easy for individuals to establish whether or not they are narcissists. Social media has a major role in increasing adverse impacts of narcissism, especially for the younger generations. Narcissism might seem like a personal problem, but it has effects on politics (Brooks, 2016). What the author shows about narcissism is that it has social, economic and political implications if it is not resolved by eliminating any emotional junk food attributed to this disorder.
The author shows that narcissism has doubled since the early eighties but does not show the age bracket of those suffering excessively from the disorder. The young generation is thought to frequent social media sites more frequently than the older generations hence they are likely to suffer from narcissism. The author should have gathered data showing the individuals that suffer most from narcissism. Further, the article does not indicate whether this disorder is gender sensitive in that whether it affects males more than female or vice versa. Therefore, the article should have aimed at establishing the impacts of narcissism depending on age and gender rather than having generalized information.
I agree with the author since their article encourages individuals to participate in the tests to determine whether they suffer from the disorder or not. Therefore, this article encourages people to carry out the narcissist test so as to make valid conclusions on the disorder. The report further shows the way to address the problem. I agree with this article in carrying out the test so as to ascertain whether a person suffers from narcissism and further to establish the ways to address the disorder. The article confirms that narcissism has economic, political and social impacts hence the need to address it despite the fact that it is a challenging exercise.
In finality, the author shows that narcissism has social, economic and political impacts but fails to show how it affects individuals depending on age and gender. The article is, however, effective since it shows it is a disorder that can be addressed after tests have been conducted.
