Man For Others
After attending the St. Peter’s Higher Achievement Program given once a year at St Peters Prep this past summer, I believe that this program has significantly influenced my notion on how to be a man for others with my peers and also in the community. I believe that my vocation to help others is deep rooted in my upbringing as a humble child. My parents have always insisted on being fair and just to the others and especially by extending the hand to those struggling in the society.
As a teenager, I have been an outreach volunteer at the Covenant House Families in New Shelter Newark NJ. This provides shelter to the homeless children, those who had fled their homes and youths at risk. However, besides being provided with clothing, shelter, and medical care, the teenagers needs vocational and psychological support. I have mingled with them and made them feel loved, shared our experiences and motivated them to remain strong throughout their lives. The youths, many damaged from physical abuse, street violence, and substance abuse, need moral support to enable them to refrain from indulging similar practices in future. Secondly, I have volunteered in youth reading class at home library in East Orange NJ since the 6th grade. This involves guiding those struggling in preliminary study skills especially in the lower grades. This, linked with being part of young people willing workers for the community at Metropolitan Church Newark, has been part of community service that has benefited others in the society.

Wait! Man for others paper is just an example!

I look forward to becoming a doctor or a lawyer and continue serving the community and especially helping the less privileged in the community.
