Multimedia
The World Wide Web (WWW) was invented by Tim Berners Lee.He first came up with the idea in 1980 and developed hypertexts. A few years later Tim developed a centralized database that contained links to other documents and named it WWW. Tim collaborated with Robert Cailliau to combine hypertext and the internet thus creating web pages. He` went on to develop the three main components for the web; HTTP, HTML, and a web browser. On August 6, 1991, the first web page was officially launched (Naughton). Today, web pages integrate various elements of multimedia to make them attractive and interactive.
Multimedia is a representation of information through the use of text, drawings or graphics, images, audio, video, and animation. The field of multimedia involves a computer-assisted combination of various types of information that can be digitally represented, stored, transmitted and processed. It is media that utilizes several forms of information content and information processing. Multimedia is user-friendly and multi-sensorial whereby it uses several human senses. Also, it is interactive and highly flexible since it can be adjusted depending on the situation or audience. Before the lecture, I believed multimedia was made up of only three elements: animation, video, and audio. After the lecture, I understood that multimedia is made up of five essential elements: text, graphics, animation, video, and audio.
The lecture gave me an understanding of all the essential elements of multimedia.

Wait! multimedia paper is just an example!

The text is the characters that are used to come up with words, sentences, and paragraphs. Graphics is the digital depiction of non-text information for example drawings and charts. The animation is the use of a combination of still images to create an appearance of real motion. The video is the running of pictures at more than 15 frames a second to depict movement. Audio is any sound such as music or speech.
