The US Federal government through the Administration on Aging (AoA) provides a wide range of services to the geriatrics to enable them to retain independent, non-institutionalized living. The Older Americans Act ensure that grants are awarded to local communities, Native American tribal firms, and States to reinforce different programs (Niles-Yokum & Wagner, 2014). Currently, this national institution funds various community and home-based services to more than 8 million senior citizens every year. It functions in collaboration with other institutions in the Department of Health and Human Services to assist in administration and formulation of programs for the geriatrics (Scharlach & Hoshino, (Eds.). 2012).
The AoA implements a program, which intends to finance many activities for the elderly such as nutritional services. The resources are shared based on the number of elderly people aged above 60 years in the State. Territories and States, which are smaller, are guaranteed minimal resources, which serve to assure the existence of the program (Niles-Yokum & Wagner, 2014). Furthermore, some of the programs including the family caregiver program and supportive services program need matching money from local and state units. In this regard, supportive services need more than 15 percent while the family caregiver program needs a match of 25 percent. Moreover, the nutritional program takes 52 percent of the total budget, but matching resources are not necessary at the local and state level.

Moreover, the matching funds are offered fundamentally through deliberate contribution, money from sponsoring government and volunteer services (Scharlach & Hoshino, (Eds.). 2012).
The national agency also supports and coordinates a number of community- and home-based services such as adult day care, senior centers, transportation, congregate and home-delivered meals, referral and information. Therefore, the institution certifies that required support services and resources are accessible to geriatrics in the US (Niles-Yokum & Wagner, 2014). The programs are designed to facilitate the elderly persons stay in their home hence conserving their dignity and independence.
