Two Play Activities
Drawing and playing puzzles have always been activities I engaged with since I was a child. Drawing allowed me to put my imagination into paper and I could draw everything that came to my mind. I also liked to play with puzzles because of the mental challenges they gave me for which I always tried to conquer. They are two activities that always made feel relaxed and entertained at the same time. With puzzles, I played with family and friends and became an enjoyable activity in my life until now.
Analysis of Activities
For a child to able to draw the child needs several essential skills that include a good perception of edges which are boundaries that help separate areas within a drawing. They also need to have a good perception of spaces, perception of shadows and light, and the relationships between objects. An individual also needs to have a good imagination and the skills to represent the imagination on a piece of paper which involves having abilities of a good eye to hand coordination (The Five Basic Skills of Drawing, 2012).
Puzzles games, on the other hand, are fun ways of spending time alone or with family and friends. However, a child also needs to have certain skills to be able to be good in such games, and they include good genitive skills that can enable a child to decipher the puzzles, have problem-solving skills which can also include patience and reserve to play until a puzzle is solved.

As an individual also needs eye and hand coordination because of a lot of eyes and hand manipulation are necessary to move pieces together from time to time until they finally fit together (Why Puzzles are so Important for Kids Learning?, (2014).
Using the two play activities when working with a child with an intellectual delay and a child with a spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia
A child with spinal cord injury or intellectual delay can also comfortably enjoy these activities. Drawing is an activity that involves putting imagination into paper and is thus an activity that a child with a developmental delay can use to express feelings and at the same time improve their imagination, improve their coordination, motor skills, and cognitive development. Therefore, an occupational therapist can use therapy as a great way of expression for a child with an intellectual delay. Drawing can also be instrumental for a child with a spinal cord injury as it can be helpful in creating a stronger eye to hand coordination, improve their motor skills, and also enable them to express their feelings, emotions, and imagination. It is also a great way of developing a standing balance.
A child with quadriplegia needs to learn to use their mouth as a tool to carry out their activities. An occupational therapist can encourage such a child to use their mouth to hold a pencil and draw and form an early age they can grow to be very skilled (The Five Basic Skills of Drawing, 2012).
On the other hand, playing puzzle is very fun, and a child with quadriplegia can play puzzles using an iPad using their mouth to control the stylus. For a child with developmental delay playing simple but creative puzzles can a starting point and the therapist can use them to enhance their problem-solving skills as well as their cognitive functions through a slow progression of complexity of the puzzles (Why Puzzles are so Important for Kids Learning?, (2014).
