I have always had the dream that one day, humanity will be equal. We will all have equal access to quality healthcare and resources, and our children will all have equal access to schools. Having grown up in Haiti, I witnessed firsthand the effects of inequality especially when it came to receiving healthcare. The few hospitals available were inadequately staffed, under-equipped and expensive (Redmond 1). Those of us from the lower castes of society would not even dream of accessing them. Morbidity most especially among children was high, and therefore, we mostly relied on medicine camps to get treatment. Having experienced firsthand the relief of those camps, I then developed a strong passion for medicine. Until we can achieve this type of equality, I am taking a personal responsibility to dedicate my services to such communities.
I am inspired to offer services to the less fortunate in society, because I believe that all of us, regardless of our status have the right to quality and affordable healthcare. I attribute this inspiration to the doctors that diagnosed and treated my bronchitis and asthma back in Haiti. Were it not for these doctors; I would not have lived long enough to write this statement. Thus, I believe it is only just that I dedicate my practice to ensure that other children who grew up in the circumstances like mine live to write essays seeking admission into graduate programs. Ultimately, they will also pay it forward and go back to their communities and elevate them.

To achieve that, I need to enroll in a good medicine program that will propel me to great success. I believe that this program will not only give me the opportunity to study under some of the best professors but also shape me into an upstanding member of the medical profession. I have the requisite academic qualifications and drive to pursue this course. For this reason, I will apply to this program.
