Heart health
In Louise Erdrich’s chapter 10 of the roundhouse, one of the topics discussed is the issue of heart health where one of the characters experience a native heart attack two times in the story, whom eventually dies at the end of the book (Erdrich, 268-283). Heart diseases are one of the most dangerous diseases that affect the world currently (Writing Group Members, et al., 86). Although people know very well that eating some types of foods might increase their chances of getting heart attacks, it has proven difficult to change eating habits. Whether one has several years of an unhealthy diet or maybe one just wants to fine tune the diet towards having a healthy heart, there are various heart diet tips that can help towards having a healthy heart. It is always important to control the portion of food to be consumed. Eating more vegetable and fruits is also healthy as they are processed foods hence they do not have the harmful chemicals that processed foods have. At the same time, if one has to take grains, it is advisable that you take whole grains as they are the best sources of fiber and other important nutrients that play critical roles in regulating the blood pressure and maintaining the heart condition in a healthy state. Always choose low-fat healthy protein sources and reduce the amount of sodium consumed in excess might increase blood pressure.
Apart from maintaining a healthy diet to maintain a healthy heart, it is important to have a healthy lifestyle too.

One is advised to ensure any cases of diabetes are managed, be active physically, have a healthy weight, do not smoke and all in all be mentally healthy (Writing Group Members, et al., 96). This way, the chances of acquiring heart attack will reduce and rates of patients being diagnosed with the deadly condition will also be reduced, thus also reducing the resources needed to treat and cure the condition.
