The Anactoria Poem
Introduction
My conclusion to what the humanities are for is straight and simple.Humanities should help us to live a just life. We should look to our culture as a store of paramount ideas about how to deal with our most pressing professional and personal issues. Life is not simple as sometimes we face a lot of difficulties, but the most important thing is to remain focused always.
Analysis
I think the work has utilized the sympathetic power of poetry. It is a fascinating piece of poetry that is appealing and very interesting to read. I initially thought that the work was just about lust and sexual desires.
Wait! Poetry and Art paper is just an example!
However, at a sharp look, I realized that there is a deeper meaning than those words that are just written. A lot of stylistic devices have been used in the poetry to make it more appealing and thus requiring one to keenly read the poem to get the deeper meanings of those words.
The poem can be placed in the category of the dramatic monologue. That is because the speaker talks about her desire for her love who is Anactoria. The speaker is a Greek, Sappho. The poetry is for homoerotic tendencies. The tendency is observed as Sappho tries to get better with Anactoria’s body. She is moved to the extent of being frenzy with her yearnings to be in touch with her loved one (Moses, 2011). However, when unable to fulfill her desires death ends up being her respite.
The poem talks about Anactoria. At a sharp look, one will realize that in one way he was the problem. Many critics dismiss the speaker’s homoerotic nature together with her ostensibly sadistic character. Various issues are being discussed that are difficult for a reader to get a grasp of what is being said. The poem has multiple homoerotic metaphors (Moses, 2011). However, besides those homoerotic metaphors are confused look towards a particular group. They were the Victorian men together with their women.
The poem is more of sexual deviance. However, there are deeper meanings than what is just written as the poem. That is because the Greek cultural allusions together with Sapphic fragments are added in verse. As a result, they provide evidence for a better meaning of the verse. There are better interoperations of the poem than just original work. In the play, one will realize that Sappho is utilized as a mask in the dramatic monologue. She is employed for the reputation of sexual deviance. Through that, she can explore using blatant sexual imagery.
Various songs are utilized in the poem. They are mostly used to bring allusions. They are showing the work that Swinburne did while coming up with that task. Moreover, it makes us understand that Sappho is the main speaker of the poem. Swinburne can show the sexual desires by faceting his thoughts using Sappho. We see Sappho pondering over her lust for Anactoria. She wishes to be with him for perfection (Moses, 2011).
Historical Context
The work was written during the time of ancient Greece. That time Greece was civilized, and thus they had developed things like writing materials. Moreover, most of the Greek people had acquired knowledge as compared to the rest of the world. That is the time Sappho wrote the poem. It is believed to be in Athena. It was a symbol of the Greek culture. There has been a different review of the article since then.
Insight into the Work
The author of the work is Sappho. From her biography, we can get an insight that she was a very dedicated lady when it comes to the matter of love. She is referred to as the first lesbian poet. She is related to a lesbian most of the time because of the piece of articles that she used to write. Moreover, the word lesbian came from where she was born Lesbos.
Theme Explode
The poem is more about the theme of love. The issue is evident as the poet talks about the struggles that people have for the sake of love. There is loyalty indicated in the poem showing about love. The romance also has no boundaries as we see a woman falling in love with another woman. Sexuality also plays a crucial role in matters of love as we know it reaches a point where the poet wants to go mainly with Anactoria.

Exekias, Achilles, and Ajax Playing a Dice Game
Introduction
“Depending on technology alone is not enough. Its technology married with the liberal arts, married with the humanities that yield us the results that make our heart sing.” Steve Jobs, introducing the iPad 2 in 2011.
Analysis
After looking at that work of Exekias, I think the artist is working to create a free world. That is because he comes and does something different forming the rest of the artist despite there being a lot of rigidity. He does it differently as compared to the predecessors(Beaz, 2010). Moreover, I think that Exekias has come up with an Athenian lifestyle realistically. From work, I felt that the decision of Exekias to come up with the humanization of the two legends was purposely to link up the average Greek person and the Greek gods.
Exekias can be said to be one of the great potters and painters from Greece. Exekias was considered as the most original black figure masters during that time of 540-530 BCE. That is because he majorly dealt with black figure techniques in Athens. It involved painting of scenes using blacked clay slips. Exekias can be said to be one of the significant figures in the history of art.
He showed interest in the details of the Greek mythology using his great work. In the Exekias workshop, there is a vase of Greek champions. They have been art on the walls indicating the various stories of them during the historical time. The architecture also talks about the Athenian life in details Exekias came up with his art style from the Corinthians. The Corinthian is the ones who initially came up with the issues of vase painting in the past. The artist from Corinthian used to paint black silhouettes.
During his working time, he ended up coming with his famous piece of art, Achilles, and Ajax. He came up with that technique because he wanted to develop a vase that was more of emotions and intensity. That made Greek grow in their field of art painting. The development of their techniques is what helped them (Beaz, 2010). He desired to be successful it has a business, and therefore. As a result, he had to go an extra mile and do something that was different thus being innovative and more productive.
The Achilles and Ajax playing a dice game ceramic amphora are sixty-one point one centimeters high and twenty-seven points eight centimeters in mouth diameter. The art appears more like an impressive figure. Achilles and Ajax are close friends, and they are playing dice. Ajax is on the right side while Achilles is on the left part. They are both soldiers who are seated on low support. They are trying to reach the dice using their right side of their hands. Achilles and Ajax are excellent people in Greece. Exekias wanted to show them when they are out of work and just chilling together. They were conquerors who did not receive help from the gods.
Historical Context
The creation of the work happened during the time of ancient Greece. It was during the period of 540-530 BCE. The Greek were competing the Corinthians in matters of art. There were significant heroes of Greek during that time that used to be represented in the artwork.
Insight into the Work
From the author’s bibliography, we can realize that he was an artist. But he was different because he was very visionary. He was psychologically sensitive and thus used incision. As a result, he did the marvelous work that we can see today in his books.
Theme Explode
From work, we find the theme of change. He does the art differently from the rest(Beaz, 2010). He represents mythological past visually. That is why we see Achilles and Ajax playing a board game. That brings out the issue of fashion thus the theme of change.
Relevance of the Work Today
The work is relevant today because it teaches people to be visionary. Exekias is visionary and thus making him do most things differently. It is also relevant today because it tells us not to be afraid to go against the odds. Exekias did his art differently thus catching everyone’s attention up to date (Beaz, 2010).
Impact on Me
The work has made me believe in change. Change is inevitable, but I should be the one to initiate the change that is needed in the society. Moreover, it has made me think that those who do things differently and correctly are the ones who become successful. He prospered in his artistic work because of doing his artwork differently. The secret to life is that never copy what other do but always be unique and give out your best every time. Despite our family background, we all have full potential to realize that best in us and become more productive people in the society. From the articles I have learned that success is not sheer luck rather it comes as a result of dedication and hard work.
