Political Engagement Discussion
All American citizens have a right to participate in the political process. However, this does not obligate the citizens into doing so. If the Americans value a government that is inclusive, they need to take charge and participate in the political processes. Their participation can be through exercising their civic duties in the electoral process by voting or running for office. All Americans with the required credentials for qualification to work in the government should do so. However, not all Americans are equally able to engage in government. In every social composition, individuals have different abilities and qualifications.
Reduction in civic engagement can be attributed to some factors. There is a reduction in the social capital which is the value of social networks collectively and the inclinations that arise from such connections and networks. It later leads to the unwillingness of individuals to participate in the civic processes. Individuals have lacked a common cause and willingness to participate in getting involved in government. The participation of individuals in the political processes is determined by the age of the citizens, wealth and the levels of education. Also, the economic state of an individual may push them into participation in the government (Rose-Ackerman and Lindseth 9).
As such, the societal stratifications and laws of nature provide for unequal abilities. Therefore, it is not possible for all Americans to be engaged in the government.

Increased participation in the government will lead to increased public education programs as well as civic education. The process will result in the better allocation and use of resources (Rose-Ackerman and Lindseth 485). Also, this will ensure that the interests of the public are at the center of the government projects. Involvement of the citizens in government may hinder the working and functioning of the government. There are only a few dockets and offices in the government, and this limits the participation of citizens in government.
