Barack Obama was America’s 44th President and the first African American to hold such a position. Obama’s father was a Kenyan know as Senior Barack Obama and His mother was Ann Dunham from Kansas. He was born in Hawaii on 4th August 1961. He was brought up by his grandfather and grandmother. He schooled at Punahou school. Afterwards, he completed his college using student loans and scholarships, Obama obtained a political science degree from Columbia University. Later, he went to Havard Law School in 1991 and received a law degree. He got married to Michelle Robinson Obama on 3rd October 1992. They have two children Malia born in 1998 and Sasha who was born in 2001. He was elected as the senator of the Illinois State and served for eight years. He announced his presidential candidature in February 2007 (“Barack Obama,” 2018). He was elected on 4th November 2008 and officially took office on 20th January 2009. He was again re-elected in 2012 where he served and completed his term in January 2017
Obama was elected as the president because he was able to offer the American a coherent policy that would assist in solving the problems of the middle-class people. For example, his plan had programs to repair the country’s economy including reducing tax by $ 1,000 reforming bankruptcy laws that were unfair and promised to create 5 million jobs. His promise to improve practices at Wall Street. People chose him because of his personality and leadership skills.

He was calmer, thoughtful and steady compared to his competitor McCain who was unpredictable and impetuous. Obama’s day was filled with briefings and meetings on everything. The President’s White House staffs or Cabinet officer prepared the presentations. Sometime the president could hold meetings with the congressional leaders or the White House staff about his legislative strategy. Most of his days are spent delivering remarks to different individuals concerning various issues, and sometimes he even thanked, different people for their significant contribution to the nation. Also, he could hold several press events such as presidential conferences, formal and informal meetings and sometimes press scrums to respond quickly to a story in the press or give the public a quick message. He may also meet with other foreign leaders. When outside the country he may attend or participate in an international meeting or visit allied nations.
President Obama’s strengths outweighed his weakness. He was a very knowledgeable Pand humorous person. Obama exercised patience, was reasonable, and compassionate when solving issues both within and outside the country. The president used his skills to change the trajectory of America, and strengthen the country’s financial system. Obama was always ready to listen and discuss a point that was different from his opinion. He did not feel embarrassed to express his feelings before people. Coming from a humble background, Obama inspired people who felt marginalized to take their place in America. As a good leader, he desired to do the right things all the time. For example, Obama was willing to reduce the drug offensive sentences to what they are nowadays. The president also had some weaknesses such as because of his compassionate heart he did more for foreign countries compared to what he did for his country. Also, he was very slow at recruitment and replacing vacancies during his term. These delays affected the economic recovery pace and constrained his abilities to get things done.
Some of President Obama’s accomplishments include rescuing the nation from the Great Recession. The creation of the Obama Care, which provided affordable health insurance services to millions of Americans without coverage. He authorized the capturing and killing of Osama Bin Laden. He ended the war in Iraq. He was one of the leading leaders who fought and supported the Paris Agreement, which had a comprehensive structure to help in the reduction of global climate change.
Obama was able to become successful because of he was willing to take personal risks to show the public that he is concerned about the promises he made to them (Calhoun, 2015). The President’s repeated use of “us” and “we” when addressing people concerning the various issues he was handling, made Americans feel part of his team. Obama could use different circumstances to get to the next stage of his agenda.
