Various students react differently to various forms of disciplinary methods given to them by their teachers. Not all mechanisms will result in the intended results. For instance, let us take a closer look into Mr. Byne’s case scenario. Mr. Byne cannot quite comprehend why scolding his seventh-grade students does not render positive results. It seems that scolding proves the students into becoming even more handful and challenging to manage. Using the operant form of behaviorism technique requires one to understand that specific changes in behaviors are because of an individual’s response to events that happen in that environment.
In a case where particular behavior is followed up by reinforcement, it is highly likely that the same behavior will be repeated. However, if the same behavior is followed up by punishment chances of that behavior being repeated is highly unlikely. In the case of Mr. Byne, scolding the students only resulted in the students becoming even more unruly and disorderly. Another approach that he should consider is looked up in this essay.
By instilling a form of punishment because of making a wrong decision, the impact is likely to register in the mind of a person. For instance, when a trained dog follows instructions correctly, it is rewarded by receiving a treat or being rubbed. However, when it misbehaves and declines to follow specific orders, it is reprimanded, and harsh measures are taken place on the dog.

In due time, the dog learns to follow the rules and orders and avoids being punished.
In the case of Mr. Byne, scolding the children has proven to bear no fruits thus a stricter measure should be used. Mr. Byne should introduce tough negative towards the students when they misbehave in the class. Examples can include giving them extra school work, taking them to detention or even prohibiting them from participating in certain school events such as school games or other activities. By enacting such harsh initiatives, the students will understand the role of authority and will understand the consequences of disrupting classes (Davey 190). Consequently, whenever a student does something good or improves in a particular area, he should reward the student in front of the class as a way of motivating the rest of the class to work hard and be on their best behavior.
