My Reaction to an Emotionally Charged Situation
Through the study of social psychology, an understanding of factors that determine socialization behaviors gets analyzed. I have realized that I behave differently in calm and charged places. I still remember the day I was exposed to a charged setting. The day was when a friend invited me to a house party. I did not know everyone there except my friend. I remember feeling uneasy, and on the day of the party, I developed cold feet. Being an introvert, this seemed like a near death experience. I wished I could cancel the plans and remain indoors, but I had made a promise to my friend. When I got to the party, I froze at the sight of everyone. I avoided eye contact and headed for the corner of the room where there were few people.
The party had a theme hence it required everyone to dress up. There was a session where the best dressed had to showcase their outfit, and I was nominated. My heart beat so fast, and I began sweating because the room suddenly became unusually hot. I was required to parade across the room so that all could see my outfit. This experience marked one of the most significant challenges in my life. The rules of the game required me to be obedient, so I had to. I had to practice conformity by remembering that everyone in my peer group was joining in the fun. My attitude towards the event also changed as I became more open-minded to join the actions of the others enjoying the festivity.

Wait! Reactions to emotionally charged situations paper is just an example!

At some point, I felt like I would lose my self-restraint if I continued along with what the mood dictated (Dewall & Myers ch 12). Therefore, I decided that it was better if I practiced normative social influence to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Finally, I felt comfortable thereby enjoying the party.
