The digital revolution especially the use of social media platforms will be instrumental in obesity campaigns which will lead to healthier populations. Essentially, the social media platforms will be important in the creation and dissemination of educative information regarding the issue of obesity. In today’s world, all age groups are represented in the digital sphere of social media whereby the children, the youths and the aged are key players in the digital platforms. Nursing practitioners and researchers in the medical fraternity use social media platforms to share information regarding obesity thus ensuring that the members of the society are informed on the dangers of being obese (Capurro et al., 2014). Also, community health nurses use social media platforms to gather feedback on the progress of obesity awareness programs form the masses which they use to strategize their countermeasures. Last, social marketing plays a critical role in promoting healthy eating lifestyles among the members of the society which will effectively lead to decreased cases of obesity.
The medical world cannot ignore the importance of social media campaigns. Regarding my nursing practice, social media campaigns will be instrumental in relaying information to the masses. For instance, in my bid to sensitize the society on the dangers of unhealthy eating lifestyles, I will create several social media campaigns on Twitter and Facebook whereby I will target different age groups.

In the nursing practice, there are various events that are organized for the benefit of the society, for instance, checking blood pressure. When tasked with organizing these events, social media campaigns will be important in mobilizing members of the community to attend. For example, for an obesity awareness event, I will create social media campaigns targeting education institutions, the youth and the aged with each group being uniquely targeted. The nursing profession is involved in the promotion of different health products and practices. For example, obesity is a healthy menace which when not checked wreak havoc in the community. With social media campaigns, we in the nursing profession will be able to sensitize the community against unhealthy eating while also encouraging regular exercising such as walking, jogging and stretching activities. I believe that the use of social media campaigns will be instrumental in the creation of a robust and information-rich nursing profession. This is because nurses will be able to share information amongst themselves while also educating the importance of leading healthy lifestyles and seeking regular medical checkups.
