A Reflection Paper
One of the major books used as a reference material during this course is Sociology: Pop Culture to Social Structure. This book was written by John Lie and Robert Brym and published by Wadsworth Publishing in 2012. Here, Lie and Brym provides adequate analysis of sociology as a subject. A part fro highlighting on the origin of sociology, the writers go ahead to explore sociological issues like culture, socialization, religion, gender, globalization race, ethnicity, families and sexuality. Actually, these are important aspects of the society that give meaning to and fulfill human life.
From all these chapters, I managed to learn a lot about how sophisticated the society is. As explained by these writers, a proper understanding of sociological theories and methods can be instrumental in creating social order at all times. The lesson I learnt was from chapter 9: Sexuality and Gender. After identifying the distinctions between sexuality and gender, the chapter explained a lot about gender theories and homosexuality (Brym & Lie, 2012). Also, the chapter covered the issue of gender inequality which, according to the book, still remains a major challenge to women folk.
The explanations given in this chapter are accurate because they represent what exactly happens in the society. Gender inequality is a social construction that has been making it harder for women to equally compete with their male counterparts. As a result of gender stereotyping, women have missed on educational and employment opportunities that they qualify for (Sen, 2014).

Wait! REFLECTIVE 4 paper is just an example!

I have personally experienced gender inequality because my mother was denied promotion because of her gender. Also, my sister lost a job opportunity she qualified for because a man had to be employed instead of her.
