Programs and policies that work well in crime prevention
There are two different types of public policy that has been identified as working appropriately about the prevention of crimes. For instance, there is an entire set related to social policies including job policies, child welfare policies, and drug treatment policies that impact crime either indirectly or directly. There is also a policy related to criminal justice that targets at preventing rates of crime whenever deemed appropriate while punishing and apprehending the criminals (Hagan, 2011). The endeavor to offer meaningful activities including education, policies, school, and jobs within the social policies includes the supportive or preventive programs among the young males and especially those programs aimed at the young children alongside their families in reducing crime.
Policies identified as ineffective
The police policies and police resources are among the criminal justice policies that can deter crime although their impact is not significant. There are only a few programs that have identified to be effective especially among the vulnerable youth. Some of the criminal justice policies have not managed in reducing crime and recidivism which has resulted in the exposure of many people at risk of diverse criminal victimization every year (Hagan, 2011). The insufficient coordination associated with skepticism and counter-advertising has been cited as among the hurdles that lead to the ineffectiveness of policies.
