As schools become more independent, they become accountable for their performance and so, they drive educational to improve the performance of the students and the general performance of the school. The recent placing of increased accountability on individual schools have led to the concept of decision-making based on data to steadily become credible, and data have become crucial to teachers and administrators (Wlodkowski & Ginsberg, 2017).
One of the concepts of making the data-driven decision that is mentioned by my colleague is collecting the right data. I agree with him. There are different types of data that are available to the teachers. However, it is crucial to understand what kind of data to collect, and how to analyze it and interpret it to actionable information. Data on the performance of the students can be gathered based on different performance indicators. After the collection of data, teachers assess the performance of the students and compare with the requirements of the curriculum. This way, the educators will identify the strengths as well as the weaknesses of the students and those of the school. The teachers should then make informed decisions based on the findings. As a leader, I intend to use correct data to drive changes that utilize the strengths and minimize or eliminate the weakness to improve the students’ performance and meet the requirements of the curriculum (Wlodkowski & Ginsberg, 2017).
Another concept to drive educational change is through collaboration.

I agree with my colleague that collaboration among the teachers, students, and other stakeholders is crucial when making decisions within the institutions. Educators and other stakeholders should work with each other and they should, as a team, make decisions with the intention of improving the performance of the students and the school. They should effectively communicate to ensure that everybody is aware of the decisions and their objective to avoid conflicts and ensure that individuals adjust and align their personal goals with the changes to meet the expectations. As a team, I intend to collaborate with other team members to avoid unnecessary conflicts and achieve a common goal.
In summary, teachers and educators, like managers should utilize resources such as data to drive changes in the institutions. They should use correct data to bring positive change. Furthermore, they should work together with other stakeholders to avoid conflicts and achieve a common goal.
