“Revenge Is My Middle Name”
I think I relate to chapter 3, “Revenge Is My Middle Name” in various ways. The character in the book, Arnold Spirit is small but also very witty. Arnold is sad about his dead dog and wishes to crawl into a hole and disappear. However, Arnold’s friend convinces him to change his mind. The two boys have drunk parents. However, the friend’s father beats him up to the point that he runs away from home and seek refuge at Arnold’s home, (Sherman, 14). Such is the nature of the two boys. Other several issues make the boy run away from his home. Comparing the situation to mine, I have been raised in a tough neighborhood. The main issue was always religion and I used to be bullied especially at school because of my name and how I talk. My accent was a major problem for me in my interaction with my peers.
The chapter speaks to me about revenge. Moreover, I learn that a boy has a deep love for his friend to the extent that he revenges for him. I relate to the way of life the most. On the one hand, we have a weak boy, and on the other hand, we have another boy who is very tough and can defend his friend at all times. Rowdy even shave the eyebrows of the triplets to avenge for his friend, “Junior,” (Sherman, 19). I used to be beaten up by classmates sometimes while in my 4th grade. Lucky for me, there was a friend of mine who was in the 7th grade and would always defend me at all times. This ensured that I get breathing space among some of my peers.

It is usually hell when you do not know how to defend yourself and is bullied continuously. When your name is different from the rest, as a young boy you will get it rough. In conclusion, chapter 3, “Revenge Is My Middle Name” relates to my life in many ways.
