The reverend says, “Kairos moment has arrived,” for climate change, (Ball, 2012). Comparing this to the other author, there is more of a promise in the persuasion technique used.
The Sierra Club gives various promises to people and promises them goodies. The excerpt encourages people to embrace new technological solutions. The alternatives will improve the financial lives of many drastically and save the planet from total collapse, (Sierra Club, 2012). Unlike the reverend, these writers’ angle of vision is from an economic gain and from turning the situation to one’s advantage. According to these authors, shifting to a future of renewable energy has “the capacity to create many new jobs which will result in a lot of money for capital investment,” (Sierra Club, 2012). In conclusion, the different authors drive their point home for different audiences who are all affected by climate change.
