The case of Roper v. Simmons was complicated to establish the right decision to undertake. The Supreme Court held that it was impossible to impose any punishment on criminals below the age of eighteen years. He was seventeen years old planned to execute murder to an individual known as Shirley, and later on, steal from the victim. One person did not fall into the peer pressure influence, but Simmons was accompanied by a friend as they both kidnapped Shirley.
Tessmer, the individual who left the group that intended to harm the victim testified against Simmons, who had already confessed that he committed the crime. The jury, therefore considered the individual guilty and recommended a death sentence against him. The court considered how other countries respond to such cases to come up with the best solution. During that particular time, only six states had committed execution to individuals under the age of 18 years.
The defendant was accused of first-degree murder since the murder involved was committed with the intentions of avoiding criminal charges, yet it was very inhuman. Moreover, Simmons had previously announced and bragged concerning the whole issue before committing the crime. As such, it was clear that the individual had effectively planned to do harm and escape. The evidence gathered required no witnesses since all the details were clear. It, therefore, means that the individual deserved to face the necessary consequences.

According to my opinion, I think that the majority of the opinion would not have been different if Simmons was a black defendant since the ruling was fair, executing the necessary charges without any form of discrimination regardless of gender or race.
