Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a well-known bacterium pathogen. It is well known for its cause of urinary tract infections. It is a gram-positive coccus which means that it provides a positive result when tested using the gram stain test. This is attest used for the classification of bacteria, and the results are based on the nature of their cell walls. It is a bacterium from the Staphylococcus genus. The lab report was used for the isolation of the three species of Staphylococcus and was based on the use of different mediums. This is a very important process in medicine because all the three species have different properties and therefore some are pathogens while others are not. Others are, however, pathogens under specific conditions. Their separation and isolation are important for appropriate treatment of infections.
For the S. saprophyticus, there was a positive result from the Mannitol fermentation. This is a differential and a selective indicator medium which is a great tool for the identification as well as isolation of Staphylococcus. It is an indicator that comprises of mannitol as an ingredient and is 1% composition in the solution. Mannitol is a type of sugar. It is also composed of salt that makes up 7.5 % of the solution and finally there is Agar which is a solidifying agent. It also contains other substances such as phenol red which is an indicator and enzymes. The salt in this composition is important because it is used in the selection of bacteria that are tolerant to salt.

Wait! saprophyticus paper is just an example!

It is a solution that demonstrates the ability of bacteria to grow in saline conditions. Sugar is used in the solution for the process of fermentation and is an indication that the bacteria is thriving (Eriksson, Giske, & Ternhag, 72).
The experiment was therefore important in the isolation of S. saprophyticus. This is a bacterium well known for urinary tract infections and in comparison to the experiment the conditions are very saline and shows how the bacteria manage to survive. It is a bacterium tolerant to salt conditions. It is bacterium responsible for almost twenty percent of urinary tract infections, and it is a bacterium found in other places such as in vegetables, cheese products, perineum, and gastrointestinal tracts. Sexual activity increases the risks of infection because of displacement of the bacteria perineum, normal flora of the vagina and into the urethra. Symptomatic cystitis is the main clinical feature of infection and includes burning sensation especially when passing urine (Eriksson, Giske, & Ternhag, 75).
S.Saprophyticus is ecologically and utropically different and unique from other staphylococcus and is associated with its high tolerance to saline conditions. The ability to isolate different bacteria from one another is important for diagnosis and treatment. For many years the coagulase test was used for the identification of these bacteria and presence of staphylococci was dismissed as contamination. The understanding of different features of these bacteria led to the development of new ways of testing and isolating them. The gram tests are a good example that explores the nature of their cell walls. This test works on the availability of a thick peptidoglycan layer within the cell wall, and it is the one responsible for retaining the stain during the test. Isolation from other bacteria through the Mannitol salt ager procedure also explores the nature of the bacteria by the use of salt tolerance as a factor in showing the difference between them (Eriksson, Giske, & Ternhag, 72).
