Scientism and Postmodernism
There are two major philosophies namely scientism and relativism that help in explaining the nature of knowledge. These two have created an even greater confusion in the understanding of facts and have created a tension between science and religion (Plantinga 2). In my opinion, scientism does not take into account the spiritual provisions in realities. According to scientism, knowledge is as a result of science. It does not incorporate the issues of morality and ethics in its explanation of facts. The philosophy means that is something is unknown scientifically then it is not known at all. Primarily, science has an important role in the development of knowledge especially in the field of nursing since it explains how a human body works (Plantinga 45). However, its failure to consider the many ethical and moral dilemmas is a limitation that makes it controversial.
In the world of today, there are many people with varying cultural views, and hence their perception of things varies greatly. This means that while something might be scientifically proven, it might be against the cultural opinions of a certain society or community. It is expected that nursing staffs pay attention and respect to the religious dogmas of a patient as this will go a long way in ensuring quality services. Most people feel that spiritual beliefs are right as compared to the scientific beliefs. This is an issue that can greatly affect the dissemination of nursing practice.

Wait! Scientism and Postmodernism paper is just an example!

For instance, is a nurse fails to recognize and respect the religious acceptance of an individual it might be difficult to treat such a patient. In this regard, I opine that it is important for nurses and health caregivers in general to find a good balance between science and religion. While science factually explains the knowledge, religion shapes the views of a patient and this will aid in better cooperation and will help in the healing process.
