Reflection on “Three warrior teachers and their ascent from Drug`s inferno.”
The poem takes us through the transition process of three drug addicts from being addicts into reformed individuals. The author shows some of the effects from the use of drugs by the discussion of the affected parties on how the drugs were bad to them (Konduru N.p). For instance, they discuss on the way smoking was unhealthy; “Each of the three Share their wisdom Of how hell`s smoke Blurred their vision Inducing sleep.” They go further to elaborate how the use of alcohol affected their judgment and movement; “Booze glass by glass The slippery slope.” The poem shows the feelings that these people have after they recover from drugs and are now ready for a new life. At the end of the poem, the last stanza indicates that they are ready to have a wonderful life that is far better than what they had experienced before, “A Zen master once said: “Why don`t you die now and enjoy the rest of your life” (Konduru N.p). There is also a classroom which is being used to create awareness about the negative impacts of the drug addiction as seen in the three warriors. The main theme of the poem is the change that the three brothers experience from being drug addicts into new people who are free and clean in souls.
The continuum model is evident in the poem from the start. The three warriors did not know the impact of using drugs. The transition process helps them to move from abnormal position to supernormal; “For the road upward out of, Addiction`s Inferno.

” The stanza indicates that there is movement from one situation to another. The continuum model of abnormality is shown through some incidences that relate with the use alcohol by one of the three warriors. The side effects are negative, though to the user, they cannot see it as a big deal since they cannot understand if it is bad, but those around them feel the impact; “As he wipes his brother`s vomit off the floor.” One of the twelve brothers to one of the victims of drugs is forced to clean the refuse of alcohol from in the room, something that he never likes.
There is a change from the abnormal situation to a supernal one in the poem. The three brothers have been saved from the inferno of drugs into reformed individuals who are ready to face a new chapter of life. The author says; “With a sacred moment, from which each counts the rebirth of their souls, their true selves” (Pirone N.p). The change has made them see their past and curse what they endured before. They remember the use of drugs as a factor that interfered with their sight and judgment making them unable to walk well. The Warriors have been moved out of addiction, and they are ready to join their friends in class to learn. They are more cautious as seen in their first impression in a class where they create awareness about the dangers of the drug addict. The drug inferno had destroyed their lives, and they are blessed to have been rehabilitated from the same. They are now back to the track to their actual selves; “Of a new Self, through a glass clearly each warrior glimpsed.” The stanzas imply that they have undergone a change from the addiction inferno into new people, hence justifying the continuum model of abnormality into super normal. They have moved from a problem that they never knew to be a problem into self-awareness where they can view their previous position as deadly.
