Reflections on Second Life Experiences
Online education and learning as a whole has evolved with changes in technology and has given rise to other options aside from traditional classrooms. Nursing has not been left out in the same, and the technique is even becoming prevalent as technology advances. To the point I have reached so far, second life has provided me with an opportunity to learn different concepts as well as skills that can play a crucial role when dealing with the patients in real life (Trafford & Shirota, 2011). The primary reason for this is that second life imitates real circumstances in a virtual environment that are vital in our learning. Second life has not only enable me to experience different types of learning, for instance, meaning discourse and collaboration but it has also helped me sharpen my skills which are crucial in handling complex situations in a controlled setting.
Besides, augmenting assignments through VLE has forced me to be proactive, and I achieved this with the help of interactions from the faculty as well as peers. In addition to interactions, second life experiences come with interactions which not only help to recall information but also enhances understanding in addition to the accommodation of various learning styles. In my perspective, the allocation of online discussions, as well as assignments, are much far convenient when compared to face to face and I have benefited a lot from the same.

The reason that makes this effective is the presence of continued support. While many students view face to face as more effective, things are different for me. This is supported by Biggs (2009), who pointed out that reduced face to face meetings makes the method exceptional and a center point of learning particularly in a unified learning setting. Finally, second life has enabled me to make connections between fundamental theories and abstract concepts which is a boost to my career.
