Technological advancement and therefore globalization have greatly contributed to shaping business patterns. Business patterns and trends are defined by forces of demand as well as supply. These forces are conceived by various market factors the main ones being the rate of potential customers in the market, the rate of competition in the market, the number of producers in the market among others (Dekker 28). Additionally, aspects such as political factors, cultural factors, social factors, economic as well as technological factors are the key factors which have potential to influence the trends and operations in the organization.
An inter-organizational relationship can be described from the type of organization as well as its interaction with the key interest group in the region. Organizations are related to other organizations which it benefits either directly or indirectly. For instance, most organizations interact with organizations which supply them with raw materials as well as those which consume their products. As well, organizational work culture determines the type of relationship that the organization will have with other organizations. Organizations with integrated culture tend to develop good relationships with other organizations since they interact on various aspects. Competition in the market is another factor which fosters inter-organizational relationship (Dekker 29). Organizations which engage in healthy business competition tend to interact at various points to strategize on various issues together.

They can choose to plan for social responsibility or other events. This forms a basis of this kind of relationship.

From the case, it is evident that the issue at hand is the disagreement between different groups of interests. These groups include oxford plastics which are represented by Sam Henderson who holds the position of the plant manager at Beatty among other people such as Mark Thomas who is the chairperson of North American Operations. The state government is another key group in the fiasco which is represented by Tom Winchel the state governor as well as Beth Friedlander who holds the position of the director in the economic development office in the state. The city government is another group of interest and is represented by Barbara Ott who is the mayor and Major J. Washington, the president of the Commerce Chamber. Finally, the last group of interest is the general public represented by May Pinellas who heads the Historic Beatty and Tommy Tompkins who is the head of a Foundation called ‘Save our Future.’ Notably, Barbara Ott and the public through Historic Beatty are against the establishment of the paint shop as well as the color lab (Oxford Plastics Company).
The problem at hand can be solved by calling for an open forum where the different interest groups are invited as the main participants. Beatty plant management led by Henderson and other officials can outline the key benefits of the project and inform the people. Another solution is for Beatty plant is to purchase a piece of land elsewhere and start the project there. According to these three alternatives, the first one is more appropriate as it advocates for a discussion which in turn will lead to a consensus. The second options though also valid, some groups such as those dealing with the environment might not agree with it due to its environmental impact. Lastly, finding land elsewhere and starting the project there may trigger misunderstandings between Thomas and the governor.
The implementation of the best solution will be made possible by first sending emails to all key parties which include the state government, the public, and city government. The email should involve a message to invite them to an open forum. The groups will be followed up to ensure their confirmation to attend the forum. In the meeting, Henderson will outline the benefit of the project to the community (Oxford Plastics Company). He will ensure that he considers the environmental issue in his speech. Henderson and other Beatty officials will develop a plan to use which will be followed to establish the paint shop and color lab. An environmental Impact assessment will be conducted to examine the impact that the project will have on the environment. The organization will analyze the social responsibility that it will engage in. This will ensure a successful project.
