Restrictions at sleep schedule can lead to partial or total sleep deprivation. Total sleep deprivation is presented if a person does not sleep, and happens in acute situations. Partial sleep deprivation refers to reduced or interrupted night sleep, as is the case with doctors’ work schedule.
Studies have shown that sleep problems such as difficulty sleeping and maintaining sleep are common complaints among university students. The university students face different challenges during this period, such as exams, work, family relationships and classes.
A poor sleep quality, in addition, in university students would affect both motor and cognitive performance, mood and even metabolic aspects. All this because in sleep there is a physical and mental recovery, reorganizing memory and intelligence, among other superior functions, affecting the performance of the person.
