Social Support and Health
The main determinants of the complete recovery of alcoholics into being sober are primarily social (Best, et al., 2016, p.11). The contributors of the social aid include emotional, appraisal, instrumental and informational. The integration of the four components sets a suitable environment to keep the drug addicts sober. This paper will discuss the various ways through which the pillars can interact to achieve the successful recovery of alcoholics. I will focus on the key aspects of each intervention.
Emotional support has a significant role at the time of recovery of previous drug addicts (Preller, et al., 2014, n.p). This pillar of social support requires understanding and interpreting the needs of the patients. The families of the patients, which have a firsthand interaction with the victims, will require training on how to provide the support. Moreover, the pillar interacts with the other factors such as appraisal, instrumental and informational needs. In some of the cases, the drug abusers have low self-esteem and would highly benefit from encouragement. Mobilizing awareness among the community members of the affected persons is a key step in mobilizing emotional stability since they play a role as positive emotional stimuli (Droutman, Read and Bechara, 2015, p.6).
Awareness can be reached through public awareness lessons such as in rallies. Economic stability is another need for previous drug addicts.
Wait! Social Support &Health paper is just an example!
I would encourage the government to play a role in supporting them to develop their business ideas. Furthermore, these efforts are implemented in groups such as the “AA” (Anonymous Alcoholic group). I would encourage the groups to advance the methods of reaching out to the victims. Instrumental support will include the rehabilitation medication that enables them to recover from the drug-induced psychosis. Government aid programs are in place with services offered in public hospitals to aid recovery. I would teach the families to encourage their members, who happen to be victims, to join these programs. I would also mobilize for the utilization of the technological devices since they provide significant information that educates the recovering alcoholics. Joining the social media is also important because it has educative content which is essential for the implementation of the programs. Lastly, the whole interaction requires the cooperation of the victims, the groups, their society and the government.
