Biblical Model of Spiritual Renewal
Spiritual renewal refers to change in behaviours by engaging in aspects that strengthen the humans spiritually. Humans are in the constant need for spiritual renewal because every time the worldly desires and the devil is seeking to pull humans from the spiritual firmness. This deters the humans from receiving the Holy Spirit that guides them to do what is right and the will of God. Spiritual renewal brings in changes that enable humans to experience inner growth. The significant areas of growth in spiritual renew are; commitment to God, hope in darkest situations, Cleanse of heart, spiritual life, and celebration.
Commitment to God
Spiritual renewal is acquired through being committed to God. Commitment to God entails having trust in God despite the trial times and remaining faithful to His word. The biblical story of King Hezekiah of Judah looked up to God when he was faced with enemies from the west, east, and Northern. He began by rebuilding the temples of the Lord and reversed every evil aspect that was introduced by his father, King Ahaz. Hezekiah example helps me to understand that in time of crisis, Christians need to renew their spiritual commitment to God. In this way, we are able to seek the mind of God and understand how to deal with the crisis.
Strengthened Hope in darkest situations
Spiritual renew brings hope in the darkest situations. Drawing from the example of King Hezekiah, during the darkest hour in his Kingdom he still had hope in God.
Wait! Spiritual Renewal and Growth paper is just an example!
Despite his Father being an idol worshiper, he was committed to restoring the worship of God and enable his people to follow Him (Klein & Hanson, 2012). He did not concentrate on the depressing situation or the attacks but focused on restoring the nation back to God through requesting the priests to open the temple of God for worship (Chandler, 2009). This biblical teaching makes me to understand that in my darkest situation am not alone and in God, I have hope and faith that He will open doors in my life and I will dwell in His presence. A temple is a dwelling place of God, and it is important not to blemish it for worldly desires.
Cleanse of heart
Cleaning one’s heart according to the word of God can bring spiritual renew. The aspect of renewing begins with personal change and moves outward to the people. Similar to the times of King Ahaz, today priests have fallen short of the will of God by becoming unfaithful and worshipping idols. Therefore, for them to cleanse the temple of God they have to cleanse their individual sin. God uses cleansed people to impact others, and this has fostered me to have the will to cleanse myself to restore God’s purposes.
Spiritual life
A man who lacks any form of spiritual life is spiritually dead and cannot experience salvation. Being spiritually alive brings light to the world and allows God to dwell amongst His people. King Ahaz was spiritually dead, and he brought darkness in Judah causing the people to sin. However, when his son Hezekiah became king, he brought light to the people of Judah through rebuilding the temple and enabling the priests to cleanse themselves to restore the worship of God. This helps me to understand that spiritual growth is as much important as physical growth and we cannot survive without the spiritual nourishment and renewal.
Celebration with God’s People
A person who is spiritually renewed celebrates with the people of God. The celebration is the result of knowing the God has forgiven our sins. Spiritual change comes with happiness and joy since a person understands that with God it’s possible to live life peacefully against all the odds. The celebration with other people has restored happiness and joy in me.
Conclusion
Spiritual renewal is imperative in human beings’ daily endeavours since it brings changes that enable humans to experience inner growth. Humans are in the constant need for spiritual renewal every time the worldly desires and the devil pull them from the spiritual firmness. God, therefore, requires us to abide by His will and through cleansing and prayer He will come to our aid in times of need, bring prosperity and joy to our hearts.
