Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs is a unique visionary that is primarily responsible for the establishment and success of the Apple Inc. organization. His unique skills and strategic thinking are two of the contributions that he made to Apple and two reasons for the success of the company. Theorists have contradicting and contrasting notions about Steve Job’s approach to conducting business, but for the sake of this paper, the behaviorist and interactionist approaches will be addressed.
The Behaviorist Approach
The behaviorist approach stems from B.F. Skinner’s notion of operant conditioning, which encompasses positive and negative reinforcement. When evaluating Steve Jobs ideals and approach to business and managing people he focuses on the significance of teamwork, management, task completion, and communication within the Apple organization. A key component to managing a strong and productive workforce is by being persuasive, and developing a plan that allows one to pose solutions to potential problems. Steve Jobs focuses on the teachings and principles of Aristotle when presenting methods of developing a persuasive argument and when creating Apple products. Gallo stated that Steve Jobs “five point plan consist of “delivering a story or statement that arouses the audience’s interest. 2. Posing a problem or question that has to be solved or answered. 3. Offering a solution to the problem you raised. 4. Describing specific benefits for adopting the course of action set forth in your solution.

5. Stating a call to action. For Steve, it’s as simple as saying, “Now go out and buy one!” (13). Steve Jobs thought process and plans coincide with the teachings and theories of B.F. Skinner because he highlights the significance of problem solving by creating solutions designed to have positive outcomes, and that also motivate the Apple workforce to be team oriented and positive. In addition, Steve Jobs behaviorist approach is based on the notion that the likelihood of the actions that led to the desired outcomes will occur again. Hence, Steve Jobs exhibits support and belief in positive reinforcement at Apple Inc.
Interactionist Approach
The interactionist approach illustrates the significance of communication, interactions, and relationships that transpire between people. More specifically, the interactionist approach indicates the various and diverse ways that humans use their interactions and interpretations to contribute and shape societal beliefs and perceptions. Steve Jobs has had a heavy influence in the computer industry because of his creative ideas, actions, and interactions with other. His creative ideals accompanied by his business sense where key components that ameliorated and elevated Steve Jobs success, and reasons for Apple Inc.’s success. He also developed a sophisticated skill in identifying creativity and capabilities of individual in his workforce. Through meetings, creative insight and contributions, and revolutionizing ways that people communicate using technology, Steve jobs has applied and utilized the interactionist approach on a multitude of leadership, business, and personal levels. He encouraged his workforce to develop products that revolutionized the industry, while concurrently using social interactionism to shape societal views and uses of technology. Apple products have been used to communicate, create, and produce unique products and services by its users. To accomplish this goal, Steve Jobs voice the significance of hiring a creative and diverse workforce that has a strong belief in creative products that are designed to encourage creative outcomes. Steve Jobs also stressed the importance of recognizing and presenting the creative ideas of his employees. Hence, Steve jobs used the interactionist approach to encourage employees to be creative and successful.
