From the stories, it is clear that stress and burnout occur in practically anyone. What is more saddening is that the victims may not be aware of this. We see that excessive pressure to perform or to work often leads people to being victims of this. More specifically to people who work in environments that demand a lot of energy, commitment, and time. For the case of Joe, he was a victim of midcareer coasters where his output was not as much as was in his early career days. On the other hand, the ambulance attendant was a burnt-out Samaritan, in that; he was encountering extreme incidences that demanded/triggered emotional burden but he was not receiving attention or appreciation (Manning and Curtis 2015).
The best way to deal with this is to look for professional guidance and stress management measures. From the cases, the victims took to induction of beverages like alcohol and coffee to enable them get through their day or otherwise numb whatever they were feeling. In my opinion, the two scenarios that both led to death, would have been avoided if the victims became aware of the seriousness of their situation and took a break. The ambulance attendants would have taken a work leave, while Joe would have chosen to retire. In the end, Joe would still be subjected to pensions and other retirement benefits that would cover for the utilities he was worried about providing. Furthermore, this would relax their mind for some time and they would be replenished during the time of their break.

Wait! Stress and Burnout Prevention paper is just an example!

In my opinion, I feel that there is not enough public awareness in the society that informs people of stress and burnout, their causes, effects, and treatment (Anthonny-McMann 2017). I believe that this is the first step to prevention and reduction of deaths related to stress and burnout.
