Summary
Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health is a resource on the impact of seafood on human health. This summarizes the importance of seafood on human health according to Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health website. I then state what I have learned from going through the content on the site.
The body requires fats for it to function. In most cases, it produces its fats. However, it needs other fats like the omega 3 fatty acids that one gets from consuming food such as fish, leafy vegetables, and vegetable oils. The function of these fats is that they are an essential part of cell membranes, and they affect how cell receptors work in membranes. They also give an environment where the body can make hormones that control body activities such as blood clotting. Finally, they prevent heart disease because they act as protectors from dangerous rhythm.
There are studies researchers have conducted to find out the effect of fish oils and fish on heart diseases. Research shows that other fats like Omega 6 fats are not healthy and can cause cardiovascular diseases, however researchers have not proven this in humans considering that most Americans take food rich in Omega-6- fats. Other studies are on the role of Omega 3 fats in increasing or reducing the rate of getting prostate cancer.
Wait! Summary paper is just an example!
It has been proven that the fats lessen the chances of getting prostate cancer, but that does not mean that those who do not take them are at a higher risk of contraction.
What I learned.
From reading the information on the website, I have realized why omega 3 fats are essential and that you get them from seafood and it is, therefore, advisable to eat fish at least twice a week.
