Synthetic fertilizers cause more harm than good by destroying soil’s fertility.
Scientific and technological innovations brought with it numerous scapegoats to almost every sector in life. Economic growth, as well as global development today, dictates that everyone competes to get what they want as fast as possible. The agricultural department as a thriving sector in most nations had to adapt to these inventions. This fact explains the existence of GMO crops, special farming machinery, and even new fertilizers in the market amongst others. In this regard, therefore, this paper talks about synthetic fertilizer and the contribution in farming.
Research has discovered that synthetic fertilizers cause more harm than good, especially to soil fertility. As much as it is a leading contributor to the production of crop yield science has proven beyond doubt that the future repercussions on the soil will be severe. Synthetic fertilizers do not occur naturally from plant or animal remains. Therefore, they have specific nutrients that contribute to degrading the soil. The nitrogen component in the fertilizer leads to the growth of fungi and other organisms that interfere with the composition of the soil humus as well as the resistant organic matter of the soil.
Furthermore, this kind of fertilizer messes up with the physical structure of soil causing it to become weaker in water and air storage. This factor makes the land more prone to irrigation as it cannot sustain itself further resulting in a breakdown in the soil microbiology.
Wait! Synthetic Fertilizers Coursework Example paper is just an example!
Planting using these fertilizers makes the soil so used to them that one has to apply more and more of it for the growth of other crops.
