Tamil Tigers
The Tamil Tigers were a terrorist militant organization that was based in northeastern Sri Lanka and finally lost to the government (Hoffman, pg. 49-52). The main reason that motivated Tamil Tigers to fight was mainly because they were angered by how the Sri-Lankan government discriminated against Tamils. Knowing that most terrorist organization do not last long, The Tamil Tigers should be given great attention as they were hard to defeat.
It is important to note that the movement gained more momentum in 1983 following the brutal killing f the insurgents of around 13 soldiers that spread to all parts of the country (Oberschall, pg. 32). During the 1990s period, the movement made use of the suicide bombs and other several other attacks to intensify the attack.
During the period, the government was alleged for using excessive weaponry that caused several damages to all inhabitants in the country. Additionally, Tamil Tigers were accused of the use citizens as a human shield (Grobar, et al., pg. 497). They argued that the rebels in the group shot those who made an attempt to escape from the group. However, the Sri Lanka government rejected the claims posed by the movement on the ground that they were fraudulent and biased (Bandara, pg. 272).
To promote the post-war reconciliation the existing government put in place the reconciliation commission as well as all the lesson learned that cleared all the military that were involved in the deliberate attack on the innocent civilians in the state (Collier, et al.

, pg. 568). The current research indicates that there is no clear indication of a possible return to Tamil wars due to the fact that majority of the citizen in Sri Lanka are war- weary and under pressure to raise their living standards.
In conclusion, the war had great negative impact on the Sri Lanka; the economic progress of the country was highly hindered by the war because there were no business activities carried out in the country during the period (Hopgood, pg. 46). However, the decline of war has resulted in a positive economic progress though at a slow rate.
