The Value of Evidence-Based Management When Proposing Change
Evidence-based management involves the use of the best and most current evidence available in relation to management and decision-making processes. The roots of EBMgt are often in evidence-based practices that are aimed at facilitating the application of the scientific method to evaluate the performance of the practice (Bezzina et al., 670). EBMgt has a wide range of benefits to both the management and employees of an organization. The benefits can be experienced across the organization such as social, financial, and structural, which promotes the functioning of the organization. The implementation of EBMgt is based on various principles. The first principle involves published peer-reviewed evidence from research that relies on why and whether a certain management technique is functional. Secondly, the principle of preferences as well as values presented by the affected (Bezzina et al., 677). Lastly, the principle of the experience or judgment emerging from contextual management practices to create a better understanding of the organization and the interpersonal dynamics involved in a situation to establish the benefits and costs associated with the available actions.
EBMgt is associated with benefits that make it possible to utilize it in proposing a change. In proposing a change, EBMgt provides an effective framework that promotes the ability to convince the members of an organization to participate in making a change successful (Donaldson 251).
