The woman: a punishment of the gods

There was a time when the earth was only inhabited by men. These had been created by Prometheus, son of Titan Japeto. Men, formed from mud, were happy and intellectually prepared beings to be self-sufficient. They practiced all kinds of sports and obtained their food through hunting. Zeus never agreed to give these creatures so much freedom, because they would lose fear of the gods and stop worshiping them.

One day, Prometheus asked Zeus to give fire so that men could cook the meat, to which Zeus replied: “That raw meat is eaten!"So, at night, Prometheus went up to Olympus and stole a little fire from the car of the sun and hid it. I returned to men with this fire, he taught them how to use it in their daily work.

Zeus burned anger when he learned about what happened, so he decided to punish Prometheus and his creatures. Prometheus condemned him to be eaten in his guts by an eagle forever and men sent a "gift" made by Hefesto: a woman named Pandora.

Epimeteo surrendered to the charms and the extraordinary beauty of this new being. So much was his attraction for Pandora, who asked him to be his wife. Epimete had been warned by Prometheus of not accepting anything that came from the hands of Zeus, not even something that seemed like a gift. But this present seemed dangerous;On the contrary, new feelings inspired. 

The gods of Olympus also presented Pandora with many present. Among the countless gifts was a box, it came beautifully decorated and was very striking.

But they gave him the strict order of never opening it. (You can’t tell a woman: don’t touch, don’t look …) As expected, Pandora could not contain curiosity and looked inside the box. When he opened it, he let the pests and martyrdoms that hit the body and mind of human beings;everything that would disturb man to this day. Pandora tried with all his strength to close the box, but there was no remedy;All evil had been released. There was only hope, to try to comfort humanity in their misfortunes.

Therefore, the woman was a symbol of the earthly desires that made man lose her rectus road and happiness.
