Introduction
The practical done entailed dissecting trash in a bid to identify the amount of each type of waste material thrown in the bins. After identifying each kind of garbage in the container, these piles were classified as recyclable and non-recyclable (trash) material and then determining their weight and volume (CalRecycle, 2018).
Hypothesis
Most of the trash thrown away at separate locations within the school compound is of recyclable materials.
Results
Type Number Volume (m3) Weight (Kg)
Paper 46 0.0160 0.65
Rubber 3 0.0032 0.3
Plastic 15 0.0096 0.42
Metal 8 0.0080 0.3
Glass 2 0.0008 0.24

Type Number Volume (m3) Weight (Kg)
Recyclables 72 0.0368 1.67
Trash 13 0.0032 0.9
Findings and conclusion
Question
The hypothesis formulated was collect because after the experiment it became clear that recyclable materials represented 92 % of the trash.
Determine the total amount of trash generated for the whole floor in a day?
On average, the total amount of trash every unit collects is 0.04 m3 weighing about 2.57 kilos.
The average amount each student throws out in:
The class has 65 students in total.
One day
On a daily basis, each student disposes 0.000615 m3 amount of trash.
One month
In a month, every student throws away 0.01846 m3 amount of trash.
One year
In a year, each student throws away 0.221538461 m3 amount of trash.
How long it would take to fill the class if no trash got removed.
Wait! Trash Dissection paper is just an example!
The class volume is (15mx9mx2.5m) = 337.5m3
Classroom volume / daily trash = 337.5 m3 / 0.04 m3
= 8437.5 days
How the trash would vary from;
The bank of American building – the amount of trash would decrease due to the digitization of bank processes. However, rubber material would increase in the count because of high use of rubber-bands to bundle money.
Restaurant – in restaurants trash amount would increase with organic materials taking the most significant volume because of possible high leftovers from clients. More so, plastics and paper would likely record a high value because of the nature of fast food packaging and use of soviets for leasing hands.
A hospital – In hospitals trash would record the highest volume because most of the materials used never get reused. For example, materials such as fabrics used during wound dressing as well as syringes do not get reused. More so, in most cases, one patient uses numerous items in a day which all go to the trash after use.
