Trump has embraced the provision of block grants for the sole purpose of Medicaid in the United States. The action is in line with his effort to replace the famous Affordable Care Act that existed during the reign of Obama. Trump’s desire is to have all people taken care of in his administration. Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s adviser, said that Medicaid would be a block grant program funded by the federal government. Further, Bovard of the Heritage Foundation is the view that there has to be transparency in debating medical care in the states as the repealing of the Obamacare is done, and the federal regulations should be looked at keenly to serve the best interests of the citizens.
Medicaid is funded by the federal government and the state to oversee medical care. Medicaid-eligible population in America will increase as the federal government will have the responsibility of funding to ensure there is affordable and accessible medical care to everyone. There is a group of people, the Democrats that hold the view that the United States should be allowed to administer Medicaid under a block grant, whereby they will spend money as they see fit to do. The view is valid in that if the Medicaid if funded by the federal government there will be accountability and broad coverage of the provision of medical care.

The role of the federal government in funding the Medicaid is crucial and therefore should not be undermined. However, the conservatives claim that the government of The United States is in a position to provide its citizens with better care. Thus, the debate on the Medicaid program is a sensitive issue and should be carried out with transparency to serve the best interests of the United States citizens. In any case, there must be a program that will take care of all people without any conflict of interests.
Part 2:
The concerns about using block grants for Medicaid are valid because there is a critical issue that revolves around the size of the Medicaid aid beneficiaries. There is a risk of the low-income losing their health coverage on Medicaid if Trump will cut the spending in the state –federal insurance program. Therefore this proposal will drastically reduce the eligibility of the group of people who receive Medicaid. Medicaid will only be limited to cover only the neediest persons such as vulnerable children and pregnant women leaving out such groups as the elderly, the disabled, and those patients with terminal diseases. The introduction of block grants will give the State the power to control the Medicaid program at will, which will lead to a reduction of eligibility to access Medicaid and cut off some benefits. On the contrary, the block grants are viewed in a manner that the federal government will spend less and endow the State to cover other costs. However, the block grants to remain a controversial issue debatable in the United States.
