United States of America
INTRODUCTION
United States of America has attained the status of a superpower, since the last century, and it has been the forerunner in the path of globalization, for education, business, politics, military warfare, to mention a few sectors. Its organization and progress from local to national to international and global levels have been tremendous.
VALUES OF USA IN A BROAD SENSE
Let us start with the metaphysical and philosophical values and foundations on which USA has been built up. They are individualism, liberty, equality and democracy. Individual merit and its application leading to achievements, have probably received the greatest recognition in this nation. No matter where you come from, your race, ethnicity, ascribed class, family and educational background, caste, creed, religion, etc, there are numerous paths to follow to reach your goals, and show something can be contributed by all. Innovation and opportunities are many which can be explored if there is an adventurous spirit, and that kind of automatically grows if you are born there, or somehow emigrate there. Thus there has been a lot of influx of people from other countries there, as immigrants, initially from Europe, and now Asia. Africa has its share too, but it has been kind of inverted in character, in the form of slave trade. Individualism follows liberalism, where exchange of ideas from all individuals and groups are encouraged.
Wait! United states paper is just an example!
Open-mindedness in all walks of life is followed. New Age thinking in religion and philosophy from all ancient cultures, like yoga, etc, cuisine, where Asian, Indian-European, Latin American are all tasted in their distinctive flavors, and education and business sectors where people all over the world come and contribute, is prevalent. Giving importance to individuals means equality is embraced, and no one is less or more than the other. Democracy stems from here automatically. Every citizen is made politically conscious, and government is a representative of that collective consciousness. What started as a philosophy and a rational model in Athens in ancient Greece, conceptually, took a full dimension in the west, in USA, in the present century.
To come full circle, the metaphysics, concepts, ideas and ideals, need to get a form, physical and material. USA has often been criticized as being completely materialistic. It is true, but behind this lurks an ideal-to go through the material, exhaustively, and then knock on the spirit’s door. Thus it is not only the rational, but the religious and spiritual, in the form of Christian/Christ/Christ-like consciousness, which make up the American mind and consciousness. Hence, the nation abounds in brilliant educational institutions, corporate bodies including first-rate banks, in public and private sectors, a very fine network of political and governmental institutions, a sound healthcare system, a great military and an army and an efficient police system. It is a hi-tech society which has managed to modernize widely the urban, suburban, countryside and remote areas, to a large extent.
CONCLUSION
To sum up, USA is not the favorite country as an ultimatum, but it has made its place in the contemporary world, and provides a chance to people to make their own personal niches, with its strong-willed philosophy of individualism, boundless optimism and endless innovative applications of creating opportune structures, from the material to the spiritual, although the latter to a certain degree. It is better than others in its technology and institutions, but the global practices are still a mix of the parochial getting an international facade.
