2018 Winter Olympics
The Olympics was held in PyeongChang, South Korea where U.S.A had the best performance finishing fourth after Norway, Germany, and Canada. The opening ceremony started full of excitement, fireworks, and pageantry.
PyeongChang is a county in Gangwon-do province in South Korea. The U.S.A team comprised of 108 women with 12 Asian-American athletes and 11 Black athletes and also there were openly two gay athletes. 92 nations participated with 2922 athletes taking part. U.S.A won 23 medals, of which 9 were gold, 8 was silver, and 6 being bronze (“All the Medals the U.S. has Won in the 2018 Winter Olympics”). Snowboarders from the U.S rule their events with Chloe Kim and Shaun White getting Gold. 102 games in 15 sports were featured and National Hockey Team for the first time did not allow accommodations since the year 1998. The U.S skating team broke records with the racial makeup.
I think the Winter Olympics should have been made cheaper to allow underserved communities participate and gain access to training facilities. I feel diversification also should be implemented to have a team which is inclusive of all American Citizens. In my opinion, team size should have been considered for national Olympics team efficiency, as a large team placed America in 12th position according to this metric (“Richard Florida On Flipboard”). I believe the U.S skating team should be streamlined to remove racism since the Asian American descent dominated it.
Wait! Using Facts to Form Opinions: 2018 Winter Olympics paper is just an example!
Lack of diversity is a problem as winter Olympics is less diverse than summer Olympics according to the athletes who represented the U.S. Also, children from different ethnicities should be natured on their athletic enthusiasm to become junior Olympians and replace the likes of the oldest skier Lindsey Vonn.
