Uterus cancer bilogy: HPV

Introduction

The uterus is the reproductive organ of women, gestation takes place. It is located in the pelvic cavity and is formed by two layers: the miometrium or external membrane and the endometrium that is the most internal part. Depending on where the tumor and biology of uterus cancer are located, the different types are classified, which helps the choice of treatment.

Developing.

The cells of our body are constant regeneration. Following the cell cycle they grow, reproduce and die. But sometimes, this guideline is not met, the control systems fail and an uncontrolled growth is caused, which produces the appearance of a tumor.According to the National Cancer Institute (NIH) there are three types of uterus cancer: endometrium cancer, the most common, cervical cancer and uterine sarcoma. The latter is more complicated to treat and is usually evil.

Likewise, the growth of tumor cells can be uncontrolled and infiltrate the adjacent tissues, or migrate to other organs and initiate a metastasis process. Therefore, depending on the location of the nodule or tumor we can classify tumor into three subtypes:

  • Local: either because it spreads towards the cervix or towards the outside, towards the myometrium.
  • Lymphatic: The lymphatic system is one of the most important parts of the immune system, it is the body’s drainage means. When tumor cells reach these ways, pelvic ganglia can be affected.

Wait! Uterus Cancer Bilogy: Hpv paper is just an example!

  • Hematogenous: this time, rare, the tumor reaches the bloodstream so that any body of the body can invade.

Biology of cervical cancer

The main risk factor in uterus cancer biology is human papillomavirus infection (HPV). Malignant cells are almost exclusively located on the cervix (if there has been no metastasis), which is located at the lower end of said organ and communicates the uterus with the vagina.

It is a slow advance disease where cells that have abnormal growth are going through different stages. These phases through which they pass are called ‘dysplasias’ and despite being anomalous cells they are not yet carcinogenic. It should be noted that not in all cases, necessarily, a tumor process will develop.

After a positive diagnosis, various tests are usually performed to determine the scope and severity of the disease, to assess whether it has spread or on the contrary is located. In response to this, cervical cancer is classified in the following stages of greater to lower gravity: IV, III, II, I, in situ carcinoma of abnormal cells (subtype 0).

Human papillomavirus (HPV)

It is considered one of the most common sexually transmitted infections that exist. It is generally asymptomatic and disappears spontaneously. Although recent studies believe that it can remain in the latent state for more than two years and be transmitted without knowing it.

Among the more than 100 genotypes that are identified from HPV some can cause warts by infecting mucous and others, the most aggressive, triggering a carcinogenic process. However, the dr. Pedro Herranz Pinto, dermatologist at La Paz Hospital in Madrid, gives us the following advice: the patient has to be treated only if he has cytological alterations, not if he has HPV.

Conclusions.

Also, it is likely that there are no signs or symptoms of cervical cancer in early stages. In this regard, the CDC (infectious disease control center) indicates on its website what we can do to avoid infection by HPV:

  • Vaccination: The HPV vaccine is totally safe and effective, and protects both women and men.
  • Perform a cervical cancer detection test from the age of 30 with some assiduity.
  • Use the condom in case of not having a monogamous relationship.
  • Early detection allows better recovery if cancer is detected in an early stage:
  • Declares the past, diagnosis this and forecasts the future.
