For many, video games are not only entertainment, they are an art culture or form, since lately they have attracted great masses with their creative content that allows them to live fantasy and fun experiences, however, they continue to question whether their influence is Negative because it is argued that they are very addictive for users and cause confusion of fiction with reality, however, these should be reasons why games are like a threat or danger, in fact, they can be great tools for Human benefit.

From the scientific point of view, it has been shown that video games have a great contribution, since, they help visual perception, also, they improve a person’s reflexes, they contribute to develop a rapid capture of different tasks, and provide a better Information processing to the brain (Cervera, 2017).

Studies from the Oberta University of Catalonia and the Massachusetts General Hospital, indicate that playing video games changes the structure of the brain positively, since it increases its size and performance in viso-spatial areas, that is, the right hippocampus (rosemary, 2017).

Beyond the scientific benefits, there is also their social contribution because games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, or FIFA, open the possibility of interacting in line with other people, creating and reinforcing social ties.

In the education sector, digital programs have been created such as video games so that children can interact, and play, and have fun, and draw, and learn at the same time; They improve their cognitive skills, they contribute to their creative development, mental and analytical capacity.

  • In the case of family problems, when someone is a prisoner of video games, there is a loss of contact and communication with parents and brothers. At the moment when this situation becomes annoying, parents try to remove their children’s games generating a violent reaction in them and causing intrafamily fights. Despite this, family therapy is very helpful to deal with both children’s addiction and family scarcity problems.

All these situations have something in common and it is the problem of addiction that is usually justified with the fact that video games catch people with their addictive content and therefore are the culprits. This argument makes no sense considering that users are those who harm themselves by not controlling their game hours and it is they who decide if they spend their time and money in this hobby, therefore, it is absurd to deny or prohibit use of video games for damage that people generate no more the product.

So are video games or enemies?, The answer is that they are video games, friends of the man, the same one who can make them his enemies if he does not exploit his benefits and drops into the hands of addiction because as Kristian Wilson said “… if the PAC-man had influenced our Generation, we would all run in dark rooms, chewing magical pills and listening to electronic music ”. Finally, for those who insist that video games are bad, take into account the words of Shigeru Miyamoto “What video games are bad? The same said of Rock & Roll ".
