In the wake of a swiftly changing world, the banking industry has evolved significantly leading to increased use of mobile banking. Despite the numerous benefits of mobile banking attackers have devised android banking Trojan that exploits user data. An example of such virus is Android.Marcher.C. This virus disguises itself as the Adobe Flash Player icon. Through imitation of popular media Apps as well as banking Apps the Trojan Malware gains administrative privileges on the target device thus, accessing and siphoning users banking details. Android.Marcher.C imitates Adobe Flash Player Application and tricks the target users and when the user installs it (Desk, 2018). The virus keeps on asking for Device Administrator Rights. This Trojan Malware keeps prompting the user for permission and if the user clicks the activate button the Trojan hide the icon. It then sends a message with the device ID to a special number that is premium rated without the knowledge of the user.

This Trojan Malware imitates several apps mostly banking related, social media and browsing apps. If the user opens any app present in its list, the malware displays a fake overlap window requesting credit/debit card number. The Malware keeps on prompting users to enter the banking credential and if the user his or her credential he or she is denied access to Google play and the apps in its list.

The information provided by the user is then forwarded to a malicious server (hxxp:/nikorg.com/1/).

The Trojan Malware also can divert any incoming text message to the malicious server. For mitigation users should switch to “Allow installation from unknown sources” on mobile security settings. This restricts one from downloading apps from an anonymous or third party. Besides, users should be wary of anything requesting administrative right.
