Diversity in government
One of the American foundational principles revolves around diversity and inclusivity. The government of the United States of America should always represent and mirror the people it is serving. Moreover, America is continuously undergoing demographic shift and projections have it that the nation will lack clear ethnic or racial majority by the year 2050 (Choi, 2015). Therefore, as the demographic shift continues to occur, it is imperative that all levels of the government from state to federal should be diverse when it comes to race and ethnicity. Arguably, increasing diversity in the American government is good for the wellbeing of inclusivity together with the reflection of the American image of a democratic nation (Beach & Jones, 2017).
Diversity comes with desirable qualities such as productivity, enhanced effectiveness, and increased innovations. Besides, a survey conducted in the year 2011 by the Forbes Insight revealed that 85% of the high-level administrators are advocating for the diversity at the workplace. The administrators claim that diversity and inclusiveness in places of work can bring about different perspectives that can spur the power of the innovation (Choi, 2015). Another report conducted by the Government Accountability Office is in the year 2013 also advocated for diversity and inclusiveness. The report purported that the diversity management is suitable for any business because it promotes productivity as well as innovations (Choi, 2015).

Therefore, just as diversity can spur innovations and promotes productivity in different places of work, it can also do the same to the American government. America is known for diversity where nearly all ethnic and racial groups of the world live and reside in America. Therefore, America can benefit from this by incorporating different racial and ethnic groups in the government. Thus, American people can help more when served by a governmental workforce that is diverse (Beach & Jones, 2017).
