My Experience with Academic Writing
Successful academic writing requires not only the writing skills but also imagination and confidence. Writing skills must be accompanied with imagination to get any plot at all. The writer possessing both must then be confident enough to create a writing out of the imagination and skill. Even with a good imagination and writing skills, however, we fail at writing if we fail at getting the confidence to write the story.
Despite my fair general knowledge of how to write I lack the confidence to write my own work. This manifest in the nervousness that engulfs me whenever I settle down to write. I always worry I must have messed up somewhere. This makes me continually double check my essay before turning it in, and still be unsure whether it suffices. I am especially anxious when writing in class. However, even when I write at home, I would still need to visit a writing center to review the work before turning in the assignment.
I think I have a good imagination. The invention is key to the writing process CITATION Purny l 1033 (Purdue University). Imagination alone, however, is not enough for a writer. My most pressing desire is to express the message I intend to, in a way that the audience feels about it as much as I do.
What kind of a writer am I if my intended message remains in my imagination? A writer must be able to express themselves as vividly as they imagine the story. I realize the need to work harder on this, even though the length of time it takes to get it right makes me unable to enjoy the process.

With patience and a lot more practice, I hope to soon master the art.
