Question 1: Sources
Different kinds of sources are used for various reasons when one is doing research. In academic writing, we use sources to round up our opinions and the knowledge for us to be able to broaden and enhance our understanding. Sources assist in rewarding the presumption of the academic community that we are writing for. This simply means, when you are writing in the scholarly background, you are not writing for yourself but instead you become an associate of the academic community which most importantly expects you to be honest and very formal in your research and writing.
When it comes to referencing, this is a one way that you can use to acknowledge or instead give credit to the writers from whom you have acquired ideas and information from. Pointing out a particular philosopher’s work, you are ratifying and regarding the researcher’s intellective ownership rights (Crème & Lea, 2008). As an academic writer, you are allowed to get any of the numerous ideas existing from the different writers all you need to do is uphold their contribution to your assignment.
Question 2: Plagiarism
Plagiarism is one crucial aspect of cheating that involves intently duplicating other people’s writings and convincing the reader to believe that you are the composer of the text. One thing that you all need to know is that plagiarism may not mean copyrighting but, if you claim to be the one who wrote a specific passage from a particular article, then you are still plagiarizing.

Due to all these plagiarism issues being a recurring menace, schools and universities have resulted in policies that would regulate how they will handle suspected cases of plagiarism. The aims for these schools’ policies is to try to categorize students into two, that is those who accidentally plagiarize because they did not understand the context and those who willingly did so actually to cheat (Crème & Lea, 2008). However, a student’s work should always be original and authentic, and in the incidence that they have to outsource an idea from an existing scholar, then they have to acknowledge that, cite and reference accordingly.
