Subject: Wastage of Print Paper
I have noted with concern that a lot of print paper is going to waste in the office as a result of negligence and lack of knowledge of environmental impact it causes. Every time I visit the copier to collect a printed document I realize that my colleagues are printing and not claiming the print. Whereas we live in an electronic age, it might still take some time before the organization goes paperless. In the meantime, it is prudent to use paper efficiently and avoid any form of waste. To produce a sheet paper, it takes a lot of energy. Since producing paper involves the use of trees, its misuse can be equated to irresponsible deforestation. Deforestation is the biggest hindrance to environmental conservation, and it is the biggest threat to the climate. Approximately 14 % of the total wood harvest in the world is used for making paper (Inskipp, 2007). Mindless use of paper is an insult to conservationists whose efforts have led to the protection of ecologically rich forests around the world. Pulp and paper are ranked as the third largest polluter of core environmental elements such as soil, air, and water (Inskipp, 2007). The primary pollutants during the production of paper are chlorine-based bleaches. When disposed paper rots, it emits methane gas which is more toxic as compared to carbon dioxide.
The following steps need to be taken to save printing paper and avoid waste;
1.

Wait! You are working in an office and you care about enviromet. You realize that everytime you go to the compier people are printing and not claiming the print and leaving it there. paper is just an example!

Prioritize the use of emails in communication2. Employees should dispose of waste papers in recycle bins
3. Limit printing of scanned documents and other documents in electronic formats.
4. Reuse office paper, i.e., if one side is used; consider using both sides before it’s disposed.

Thank you for your services, they are really helpful! I was ready to give up my term paper because I just haven’t any idea what to write about. I’ve found a couple of ideas here and finished my piece without hurdles.
