Alexander the Great portrayed himself as a true leader and a man of the people. He loves his subjects and put their interest first before anything else. He celebrated with them in social events just to show his appreciation for the good works of his subject. He showed how much he celebrates his subjects, celebrating his own wedding alongside his companions. The beauty of the weddings was that all of them, including that of the Alexander’s were conducted in the same manner (Alexander the Great118). The weddings were conducted in the Persian manner just to show that he appreciates cultural diversity. As a leader, he showed his compassion by liquidating all the debts that belonged to his soldiers, regardless of the amount as well as the manner in which the debts were spent. In fact, he took it upon himself to convince his soldiers to register their names (Alexander the Great 119).
Besides, the Alexander the Great also portrayed himself as an appreciative leader. He rewarded his loyal subjects together with the soldiers who served him well. He showed this by rewarding his soldiers who were both loyal and served him well at the time of war. In his speech that he delivered to the Macedonians, Alexander portrayed himself as a servant leader. He revealed that he had incurred injuries all over his body from different types of weapons for the sake of his people. Fighting in every battle showed Alexander as a brave leader who is ready to lead his soldiers in wars. From the same speech, Alexander revealed that he loves his subjects, particularly the Macedonians by giving them wealth from the kingdoms that he conquered (Alexander the Great 122).

Wait! Alexander the Great paper is just an example!

It is without a doubt that Alexander’s method of ruling is based on the appeasing his subject. The subjects, in this case, are the soldiers and those he conquered. As a way of appeasing his soldiers, he devised a rewarding scheme based on the rank and service delivery. Moreover, those that are deemed unfit to serve as soldiers as a result of the injury incurred during the war are relieved of their duties and compensated handsomely (Alexander the Great 120). Additionally, he also liquidated his soldier’s debts just to appease them. As for the people he conquered, Alexander the Great offered wealth and protection as he revealed in his speech that he delivered to the people of the Macedonia. Apart from providing the protection and wealth to his subjects that he conquered, another method that he used to appease them is adopting their customs. This he showed by both his dressings as well as the manner that he conducted his wedding the Persian way (Alexander the Great 118). Sharing the good moments is another method the Alexander used to appease the people he conquered. This he showed by conducting his wedding together with the rest of them.
It is worth noting that Alexander faced some challenges as he attempted to appease his soldiers and the people he conquered. In the first place, his attempt to liquidate his soldiers’ debts was met with suspicions. The soldiers thought that Alexander was trying to determine those who thought their pay were insufficient and those who were extravagant in their spendings. As a result, just a few of them registered as they were required (Alexander the Great 118). On the other side, the Macedonians also challenged Alexander’s decision to lay off the injured soldiers and the aged soldiers who could not serve in the army anymore (Alexander the Great 120). The Macedonians thought that Alexander was despising them and thinking that they were useless in serving in the army.
