Introduction
The need for higher education is increasing on a daily basis, and desire for higher education is becoming of great importance from one generation to another. The number of international students in developed countries like the U.S, Canada, and U.K from developing countries is increasing daily regardless of the high cost of education in the developed countries as compared to the developed countries. This is research focus on the evolving importance of education in the newer generation as compared to the older generations with the case study being China. It concentrates on the current generation’s attitude towards higher education and how they are willing to support themselves or their families in future.
Consequently, the research was mainly concentrated on the developing, and the survey was done to the Chinese college students both in China and abroad. The research questions were based on gender, the number of children in the family, who pays the college fees to the student including the extent to which the support is done, etc. To be able to know how the students valued the importance of education in future, they were asked to indication the highest level of education they were willing to achieve and whether they will support their children’s higher education in future and to what extent. The research was also used to know the perception of education from developed country by the new generations in the developed countries.

Discussion & Conclusion
According to the research, it is clear that the newer generation is increasingly valuing higher education as compared to the old generation. This is observed by the way they responded to the questions on their willingness to achieve masters and doctorate level of academics. Most students were also willing to support their children either fully or partially to attain a higher degree to the level of masters and doctorate. It is evident that education from developed countries is more valued as there is a constant increase in the number of international students in the universities regardless of the high cost of living and tuition as compared to their home countries. It is also evident that there is an increasing belief that advanced education plays a major role in the improvement of the quality of life. This is because the research shows most of the interviewees both in Mainland China and abroad would support their children higher education as they would want them to have a better future and a peaceful life.
Contrarily, this research was conducted using different methods which had both advantages as well as disadvantages. The main challenges I faced while conducting the physical interview was that it was difficult to identify the student to interview making sure they don’t feel targeted or prejudiced. In-person interviews were also expensive in terms of time and interview. It was also disadvantageous as the interviewees tend to avoid the truth for fear of being implicated. It was, however, advantageous as it was possible to get explanations for certain responses and also be able to read the emotion expressions of the interviewees. The conducting of the interview through social media made it easy to get honest responses due to anonymity, but it posed the challenge of not getting an explanation beyond the response.
This report agrees with other previous reports that most developing countries such as China are moving or would like to study abroad. A previous report has indicated that there is a rapid increase in the number of students studying abroad every year by 17% from China. Also similar to the previous reports, there is the issue of the ‘one-child law’ in China. Some of the students’ positive attitude towards abroad is due to the fact that they would have a chance to have the number children they would want in the family.
Similar to previous studies conducted, it was observed that foreign students studying abroad tend to change their values and adapt to their environment gradually. This was evident be the response to the question of how many children they would want to have. While most of the interviewees came from a family of one or two siblings, many children felt that they should let “nature take its course” thus leaving the option open regardless of the laws in China Mainland where they are required to have a maximum of two children.
Simultaneously, the main weakness of the report is that it focused mainly on the Chinese students as a representation of the developing economies. The two major problems with this are that China is far March developed than the rest of the developing economy and therefore, China could not be a good representation of the rest of developing countries. The research is also done to a small number of students, that is, 47 students to represent millions of Chinese college students both abroad and in their home countries. The other weakness is that the research does not provide explanations for certain students’ responses that are out of the study questions. The explanations could help explain the student’s attitude and the reason for their inclination. The report also focuses on the number of children in the family which may not be a factor contributing to abroad studies preference in other developing countries
In conclusion, there is an observation stating that there is a positive attitude shown by current generations towards the importance of higher education as compared to the older generation. This is. However, a challenge experienced in the developing countries has forced the young generation to move to foreign countries in search of high-quality education. These findings could be used by the developing countries to alert them on their student’s thirst for quality education and put mechanisms in place in order to improve the quality of education for the current and the future generations. This will help in increasing their generation’s competitiveness in the international market, changes their students’ attitude towards their education system as well as attract foreign students from abroad. Quality education is just but only one of the reasons why students from developing countries study abroad. This lays groundwork for research on other contribution factors to student’s preference towards a broad education in their higher education. The focus could be on China as they form the majority international students abroad.
