Newspaper Article on Animal TestingI chose a newspaper magazine article genre because it targets a wide range of audience compared to the magazines (Mussell, 2014). Newspaper articles display high-quality images which are represented in different colors thus attracting the targeted audience. I used a splash and masthead convention in the genre. In this, I made sure that the animal testing story was on the front page and was accompanied by a photograph of several animals. I also made sure that the title of the magazine was eye-catching on the first page to attract the scientists. I used simple words to enable the newspaper buyers to understand the importance of animal testing. Furthermore, I used paragraphs to express the different ideas with each idea being in a separate paragraph. I considered the sensitivity of the topic while organizing the newspaper to ensure it is not complicated.
The primary message in the newspaper article was about animal testing. It mainly targets scientists who use animals for research experiments. The article discusses whether animal testing is allowed by the law. It also explains the process of animal testing and its advantages and disadvantages (Doke & Dhawale, 2015). The article will enable scientists to come up with new ways of studying animal behavior, metabolic activities and response to specific substances which are alternatives to animal experimentation. I appealed the audience by using high-quality pictures of the animal testing (Sullivan, Manuppello & Willett, 2014).

I used logos to persuade scientists by use of reasoning and historical facts about animal testing. The pictures also gave the scientists a deeper understanding of the importance of animal testing and other alternatives. Moreover, the newspaper was mainly informed by the increased concerns about the use of animals in experimentation research. I gathered and compared information from different studies before creating the newspaper article.
