In “The Faith Healer of Olive Avenue” by Manuel Munoz, Cristian of “Senor X” and Sebastian of “The Good Brother” battle and proceed forward with their future due to the many occurrences and the current state of their conditions. Nonetheless, personally, I trust that Cristian’s and Sebastian’s blame past circumstances and history happen to be keeping them away from opportunities of a future. For Cristian, he strongly has it that he is a victim of his history while Sebastian is firmly held back by the adolescence recollections that appear to occupy most of his thinking. Many individuals battle pushing ahead when something appalling and surprising has meddled with their lives. Such scenarios with terrible experience often lack heartbreaking moments thus equips the entity with a cumulative unusual power. The characters would, therefore, be left with instances of blame and recollections that they decline to relinquish. Sebastian and Cristian are very similar in that they are both abandoning the history they have and completely acquiring new forms of living with a forecast of a new structure of life ahead.
In the story “The Good Brother” Sebastian takes care of little Chris. And besides, Sebastian battles to go on living his life and the future because of his history and his mom’s demolished capacity to be self-dependent. It appeared that his sibling moved out the moment he found the open door.

Sebastian, the famous sibling, gave up his chance at a real future to administer to his mom. Even though it appears Sebastian’s mother’s circumstance is the primary motivation behind why he couldn’t seek after his future, indeed he is brimming with blame and additionally couldn’t relinquish his past, much the same as Chris proved unable. Sebastian is a gay man whose circumstances that led to him to this practice are unknown. The author discusses an incident between Sebastian and one of the triplets in which he gave fellatio to one of the triplets. Also, Sebastian was a young kid and uncertain about how his amusements transformed into easygoing play time. Unmistakably Sebastian is partial to blame for allowing things to go the way they did. Throughout the years, he keeps on wondering what triple he gave fellatio.
In the book “Senor X,” Cristian otherwise called Chris, was the storyteller. Even though Chris told the story along with furnishing the readers with points of interest of the present circumstances, he was a temperamental resource of information. His personality was one that would repudiate the things he said. An example is the beginning when Chris tells his neighbor that she dropped her cash. Activity like this, in a flash, demonstrates the readers he is a legit person. The story leads us to believe that he was enticed to keep the cash. Preceding that announcement, he additionally expressed “I think I’m a good person deep inside, except for some mistakes, some ways of thinking that I know were wrong” (Muñoz 153). In this quote, the watchword “were,” implies that he does not have considerations that would allow him to do awful things.
Chris is an untrustworthy individual because of his history and instances that characterize his past life. He doesn’t give any information about his criminal history, although it is evidently shown to the audience. Chris becomes too defensive upon inquiry by his neighbor about his roommate. Trevino receives a stunning response from Chris as he says “No, am taking my bite and hoping that would be enough.” (Muñoz 164). Chris attempted to abstain from divulging to Trevino any excess of information about himself. It, therefore, lets us know that Chris has important measures of recollections that are private matters to him and he attempts to keep his life a secret.
Kyle was a companion of Chris who stuck close to him and hung out with him, preceding his incarceration in Avenal. He is a particular character and has a conviction record also. He becomes the reason and motivation behind Chris’s inability to proceed onward with his life. Kyle influenced Chris into theft, even though he wasn’t the one stealing, he was the getaway driver. Additionally, Kyle left Chris with the thoughts that made them ponder what he was considering. Later when Chris and Kyle went to Las Vegas, Kyle made a move on Chris. Chris stopped it before it could go any further, and would have liked to have forgotten and changed everything that had happened.
All through the story “Señor X” Chris continued contemplating the history he had. Such perceptions and undertakings are brutally stopping the drive for having a better future. To conclude his story, Chris guarantees that he could never let any of the activities go in an unexpected way. Chris states, “I ran my fingers through it, the begrudge getting through my hands, the need, and the learning, as well, of that it was so difficult to put the longing behind me” (Muñoz 176). Chris isn’t able to relinquish the individual Kyle helped him to wind up, which is a cheat. His cravings are much more grounded than his self-control.
